ABOUT US

Crossroads Angel was born in a series of letters between Patrick and Dwight Irving beginning in 2006.  Patrick wanted to take his experience as an artist and occasional promoter, and develop a business in independent music management and promotions.  Dwight was developing business strategies to apply social networking technology and methods to the communications industry, and was looking for an opportunity to break away from the corporate life.  Between exchanges of jokes, experiences as artists, and wild ideas for viral videos, they found that they'd developed the core of an interesting business idea.

Crossroads Angel begins with a business directory that enables artists, managers and performance resource providers to easily find each other.  The addition of social networking methods transform individual users into a community that shares information on service and product providers.  Our goal is to reward good business practices, streamline business interactions and open up the marketplace to innovation.  The next step adds the discipline of social graph analysis to improve the value of searches, and enable all members to better target their business offerings.

The Crossroads Angel community will find an emphasis on professionalism, privacy and ethics.  We encourage our members to participate in the community by contributing member reviews, and forum questions and answers.  We also encourage members to participate in the improvement of the website by providing feedback and ideas to the executive staff through the "contact us" page.  We value informal discussions and hope to hear what you like as well as what you don't.

Crossroads Angel staff and advisory panel members will be visiting venues and events across the country and around the world.  We hope to see you there supporting your local independent performance providers.

Dwight Irving
Executive Management and Technology
Dwight Irving received a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Idaho. He applied his knowledge to the research instrumentation industry where he designed control, visualization, and data analysis software for research and clinical imaging systems.  After launching two generations of PC-based instruments, Dwight moved into a senior technical role at a major financial services company where he added distributed systems architecture to his knowledge of high performance software design.  He next entered the communications industry as a user champion and customer engineering architect at a computer telephony innovator, and then at a major semiconductor manufacturer.  Dwight's bottoms-up understanding of the communications market enabled him to transition into a business role as an innovative technical sales executive and business development manager. Dwight is also known for his high energy, and occasionally unorthodox, presentations. and his understanding of technical trends and their impact on business.

Dwight co-founded Crossroads Angel to combine his passion for music with his interest in applying social networking methods and analysis to traditional business models.

Patrick Irving
Strategy and Community Organization

Patrick Irving established an underground reputation in the Pacific Northwest as a hip-hop artist, and later as an event and tour promoter and coordinator with a large contact list and reliable information and advice. His ego-less approach and enthusiasm for working with others make him a natural social influencer and connector. Patrick's entrepreneurial skills show in his ability to “make it happen with no budget”, and the forging of an active international network of other professionals.

During a short break from the world of music Patrick reevaluated his position, knowledge, and contacts in the industry, and returned with a venture idea to further the evolution of social music networking. It is Patrick's goal to remain plugged in to the independent music revolution while offering his assistance to those willing to work towards their goals.

Jennifer Orr
Marketing, Content and Communications

Jennifer Orr was studying fashion in Los Angeles when she began associating with producers, artists and promoters.  Her interest in music blossomed from that experience.  Jennifer returned to Boise State University to pursue a double major in Marketing and Entrepreneurship with a minor in Communication.  But that wasn't enough...  She took a class in radio production and eventually became the founding Promotions Director at the Boise State student run radio station "University Pulse".  While there, she discovered a need for community building within the music performance industry and left to take on the role of community developer while also continuing work in promotions.

A real Orriginal, Jennifer produces two radio shows and reviews music for University Pulse.  To broaden her media portfolio, she interviews artists for podcasting under the "Backstage Pass" feature of the independent student newspaper, "The Arbiter".  Jennifer brings her experience in broadcast, marketing and advertising to Crossroads Angel, along with her zeal to support and connect people in the performance industry.
